Is Vegetable Oil Making Your Acne Worse?

In nearly every beauty magazine, every TV program, or every radio hour you are sure to hear or see some sort of advertisement for an acne removal product. Each one promises to get rid of your acne and keep it away, leaving you with the smooth, clear skin of the models who are advertising the product (and probably never had acne a day in their lives).

Every year, the acne medication industry makes millions of dollars selling one expensive acne treatment after another. And acne sufferers continue to buy the products, hoping that eventually one will work and help them have the clearer skin that they are longing for. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the “cures” will not do more than offer temporary relief, since they do not deal with the underlying cause of the acne. So if you have acne, you might want to take a second look at all the creams, washes, and pills unless you know that they are going to take care of the reason why you have acne.

If you feel like the acne industry is taking you for a ride, you may be tempted to look for a natural solution to your acne problems. Many health and natural food stores will offer their version of the magic acne cure. The sales associate may try to convince you that their organic face washes, fad diets, or vitamin supplements are going to be the way to go. However, these do not work any better than the pharmaceutical options, and for all the same reasons. They do not treat the underlying cause of your acne.

So you continue on, trying product after product, wash after wash, and still suffer from the same acne again and again. However, you can stop the cycle once you learn what the underlying cause of your acne is. Once you know the cause, you can attack the underlying problem, and get the clear skin that you have been searching for.

So do you want to know what the root cause of acne is? It is inflammation! Your body produces hormones, causing inflammation, which in turn traps dirt and bacteria in your pores, forming acne pimples and cysts. And the majority of these hormones are produced in reaction of the type of foods that you eat. Once you know what is causing your acne, a simple diet change can help reduce the amount of acne that you have dramatically.

So what is this secret troublemaker causing all of your acne problems? Vegetable oil is. Vegetable oil can cause the inflammatory hormones that make your acne worse as quickly as an hour after you eat.

Keep in mind that the majority of processed foods contain vegetable oil to some extent, with the worst offenders being greasy and fried foods. By avoiding the local fast food joint, you can go a long way to reducing the amount of acne that you suffer from, and see dramatically clearer skin. When cooking at home, avoid vegetable oil as much as possible, avoiding oils entirely or looking for healthier options such as olive oil.
