Are You Repressed? Sexual Repression Can Have Serious Consequences

One of the causes of premature ejaculation that people don’t really like to talk about is sexual repression. If you grew up in a household that taught you that sex was shameful or that you needed to feel guilty about having sexual feelings then you may have a lot of shame and guilt associated with having sex. This anxiety, shame and guilt can lead to sexual dysfunctions like premature ejaculation.

Sexual repression is a problem for a lot of men. Usually men are very reluctant to talk about sex, especially with their partners or with their doctors. But talking with your partner or with your doctor can be a good way to break the cycle of shame and guilt that is associated with sex in your mind as a result of your childhood teachings about sex.

If you want to get past the sexual dysfunctions that you have you need to be able to deal with your sexual repression. It’s not easy but it can be done. If you think it will help enlist the services of a professional counselor or sex therapist. Mental health professionals who are trained in dealing with sexual repression can help you learn to overcome being uncomfortable with sex and learn how to enjoy sex with your partner.

Don’t you want to be a loving partner who is healthy and can enjoy sex? Don’t you want to give you partner the chance to be with someone free from sexual repression? Of course you do. So stop putting off dealing with your sexual repression and take the steps you need to take in order to start getting help for your sexual repression.

If you’re not comfortable talking to a mental health professional or your doctor about your sexual repression and how it’s impacting your life you may want to talk to your pastor or religious leader. Getting the real truth about how sexuality is viewed in your faith may help you reconcile your sexual desires and your faith.

A very good way to deal with sexual repression is exploring sexuality together with a partner that you love and trust. Together you and your partner can try new things and your partner can help you get more comfortable with your sexuality. This can be a good way to lessen that sexual repression and get over some of your sexual dysfunctions like premature ejaculation.

If you are not comfortable talking to someone close to you about your sexual repression and how it impacts your life and causes premature ejaculation and other sexual problems you can always join a support group. Since support groups are anonymous you might feel more comfortable discussing your problems and you sexual repression with other people who are experiencing the same problems.

No matter which way you decide to go about treating your sexual repression the one thing that will always help is talking about it. The more you talk about your sexual issues the more comfortable you will become with sex and the idea of being sexual.

The more comfortable you are with your sexuality the more sexual dysfunctions like premature ejaculation will go away because you are getting rid of the stigma that you have attached to sex in your mind. Getting rid of the guilt, shame, and anxiety will also get rid of the sexual dysfunctions that are caused by sexual repression.
