The Unique Spiritual/Emotional Dynamics of the Dying Process
Family members and other loved ones can assist the dying individual to go through the spiritual/emotional process by encouraging them, and by accepting the process that the dying individual is going through. It is important for others to support the individual in any possible way so that comfort is given during this important time in the life journey.
The second dynamic that the body goes through during the dying process is the spiritual/emotional one. It is a very different process from the physical one. The process entails the spirit of the individual preparing to leave the physical body and being "released" from this world and entering the next one. The process of releasing involves several factors. One factor is becoming unattached from this environment and from those "attachments" that were formed here. There may be priorities in the manner in which the individual goes about the process. Much has been said and written about the dying individual going through the process of "resolving unfinished business" or getting permission to "let go" from those who are close to him/her such as from family members and other loved ones. This is also when attempts are made to reconcile or make right any wrongs or unsettled relationship matters. All of these factors and processes are normal.

Driving under the influence of alcohol is reported to be the single most important factor in death by MVA. The second most important factor in death by MVA is driver fatigue. Statistically, 55% of MVAs involving fatalities had some type of traffic violation associated with the accident. The most common traffic violations associated with fatal MVAs are in order of highest occurrence to least: driving at an unsafe speed, the failure to yield the right of way to another driver, crossing the center line, failure to stop at a stop sign, improperly overtaking a vehicle, disregarding a traffic signal, following a vehicle too closely, and then miscellaneous violations.

The dying process is unique because no two individuals will go through it in quite the same identical manner. Even those who are dying from the same illness at the same time will have differing conditions as to degree of pain felt, or the intensity of other symptoms. The speed or arrival at the “final stage” and even how long the duration of the final stage will be can also be different. It may even be that in the unfortunate occurrence of when family members and other loved ones are the same for two different dying individuals the relationships experienced with each member will be different. Just the surroundings or situation leading up to the dying process might also be different as the cause of death can be different. The cause of death may be due to illness, accidental injury, intentional injury by another party, or it can be suicidal in nature. Age of the dying individual will also make a difference in the handling of the dying process. The very young person going through the dying process will have a much different perspective on the spiritual/emotional dynamic than what an elderly person will have simply due to the lack of experience that an elderly person possesses.
It is important that family members not confuse the dying process with that of rejection. During the dying process the individual will sleep more during the day and will be detaching him/herself from this world physically and emotionally as a natural way of preparing for death. This process can at times seem as if the dying person is rejecting loved ones, when in fact he/she is doing what is natural at this stage of the process. News About Death & Dying
